TICKET TO SUCCESS

Good for All Types of Learners
Delete and backspace buttons have been de-activated.

A STRESS-FREE ENVIRONMENT IS BEST FOR LEARNING

When a child’s stress response “fight or flight” is activated, stress hormones actually turn off the parts of the brain that allow them to focus attention, understand ideas, commit information to memory and reason critically.  Optimal mental state for learning is relaxed alertness.

FEATURES

  • Adults and children love puppets.
  • Kids Typing Express has puppets.
  • Humor and music cement  learning.
  • Kids Typing Express has jokes and songs.
  • Relaxed alertness is an ideal learning condition.
  • Kids Typing Express has deactivated the delete and backspace buttons putting children at ease.
  • Groups of three are easy to remember.
  • We teach only 3 letters at a time as a  finger moves  vertically  up or down the keyboard (The letters “A, Z and Q” are all pressed by the little finger  of the left hand.  Lesson one takes 8 minutes to teach 3 keys.).
  • Building brain synapsis.
  • Your child watches the charming puppet show, as many times as he /she would like.  The next step is not to spoon-feed information again and again or drill endlessly but to help your child retrieve and recall  the lesson.  Our memory technique results in a stronger, deeper retention level and a dramatic increase in the learning curve.

ALL ABOARD PALS

KIDS TYPING EXPRESS IS THE FASTEST WAY TO LEARN TO TYPE
CATCH A RIDE TO KEYBOARD TOWN

Kids Typing Express’ primary goal is to teach your child to type.   At the same time we are able  to build a child’s confidence and self-esteem as he/she learns a new skill. When given age-appropriate challenges of short simple lessons, they experience a sense of accomplishment and success and therefore self-esteem soars!

Unlike other touch-typing programs designed over 100 years ago for adults,  our 30 year veteran educators based Kids Typing Express on the latest 21st century research.   The educators discarded the rote approach  of endless drilling and mind numbing exercises.  In its place they developed a unique method called PURPOSEFUL ASSOCIATIVE LEARNING SYSTEM.  PALS’  technique is based on association – connecting unrelated items in the mind.  The puppet’s story links  a letter, to a finger, to a key.   This new association is now firmly cemented in the mind.

ENGINEERED TO SUCCEED

REMOVE THE STUMBLING BLOCK TO SUCCESS

Hunting and pecking robs your child of precious time. Did you know that if your child hunts and pecks  on the computer keyboard 2 hours a day, five days a week,  he is typing 30,000 fewer words than a child who has learned to type using the  correct fingering, looking directly at the screen?

FULL STEAM AHEAD WITH KIDS TYPING EXPRESS

  • A child only competes against himself. There are no winers and losers.
  • No timed-speed tests for the young typist who is just learning to read and write.
  • Typing real words within minutes of beginning the program builds confidence and motivates the child to keep going.
  • Both sides of the brain are engaged making the program good for oral learners, visual learners and kinesthetic learners.

I AM DYSLEXIC

I learned to type in one day.
I LEARNED TO TYPE IN ONE DAY.

My mother looked online and she found out that I am dyslexic.  She told me it is a problem that I have and everyone has problems.  She also told me that  I am very smart.  To help me with my problem she bought a special program that teaches dyslexic kids to read and spell. Because it is also hard for me to write, I am learning how to type. The typing program is called, Kids Typing Express.   We told the company I learned to type in one day and they said, “We never had someone as gifted as your daughter.”  I found out that even if  you have a problem it does not mean that you are not smart.

MARY HAS ASPERGER’S  SYNDROME

TYPING HAS LIBERATED ME.
I TYPE EVERYTHING NOW

My name is Peg Watt-Morse. I am a high-risk obstetrician married to a busy attorney. Our daughter, Mary, has Asperger’s Syndrome. Her handwriting is painstakingly slow and difficult to read.

We were fortunate enough to have our daughter, Mary, learn to type with the Keyboard Town PALS, Kids Typing Express program. In less than four sessions, our daughter was an excellent typist. Mary immediately used her new ability to communicate  by typing a song about her grandfather who had recently died.

My other 3 children received typing instruction in their computer classes at school. Those classes were long and boring and I saw after several lessons that they did not know how to type. I switched them to Mary’s program and everyone was happy.

My family is a perfect example of how this program works well for both typical and special needs children.

Sincerely,
Margaret L. (Peg) Watt-Morse MD, MPH

ASSOCIATIVE LEARNING

mozart

Human memory relies on association and objects frequently seen together to become linked in our minds to enhance the learning process.

(Science Daily, March 15, 2007)

MNEMONICS

banana-split

Mnemonics is a memoryaid. Rather than straining to recall meaningless sequences, mnemonics works best when used with easy to remember insignificant data that is then attached to spatial, personal or otherwise meaningful storylines.

MENTAL IMAGERY

wizard-and-boy

Mental models play an important role in thinking. Imagine an exercize (mental practice) and the results will show significant improvements in performance.

GESTURING

wizard2

Gesturing improves learning. Meaningful gestures help students to remember what you said. Hands may play the best supporting role in a teacher’s lesson plan.

(Susan Goldin-Meadows, Prof. University of Chicago)

PUPPETS

the best way to learn to type

Puppets are a valuable educational tool providing an essential link in learning and play.
Children trust puppets and don’t feel threatened by them, making them the perfect neutral medium.

THE BRAIN

boy with a backpack

The human brain has two halves each with a different function. The left hemisphere operates sequental academic activities. The right operates holistically artistic activities and creativity. To accelerate learning, our approach stimulates both sides of the brain.

Stage I CONSCIOUS LEARNING

The learner pays attention to understand the finger actions required and the correct keying of character groups.

Stage II Trials

The learner consciously imitates the finger actions required and subsequently succeeds or repeats the trial.

Stage III REFINEMENT & PRACTICE

The learner consciously imitates the finger actions required and subsequently succeeds or repeats the trial.

Stage IV AUTOMATIC PERFORMANCE

The learner is able to create text without conscious attention in the same way competent drivers use a car.
